Site-selection algorithms and habitat loss
Article Abstract:
Research supports the inclusion of spatial population modeling in habitat reserve network design. Data were obtained from studies in which all sites are kept as suitable species habitat and studies in which habitat is lost. Basic algorithms for site selection may be inadequate if species persistence is linked to sites not in a reserve network.

Ecological effectiveness: conservation goals for interactive species
Article Abstract:
The importance of incorporating the level of interactivity between species in wildlife conservation management is examined. This will alleviate the short-term aspect of recovery goals, and prevent them from becoming spatially and numerically minimalistic. Wolf and sea otter populations are used as an illustration.

The Last Mile: How to Sustain Long-Distance Migration in Mammals
Article Abstract:
Discussion focuses on the migration corridor that runs through the Greater Yellowstone region, used by bison, elk, and pronghorn. The formation of a national migration corridor network in this region is urged; its potential application for other regions is considered.
