Size doesn't matter
Article Abstract:
A survey of the genomes of some key metazoan taxonomic units for Hox genes supports the reorganization of protostome metazoans into the lophotrochozoans and ecdysozoans. It was established that there is a larger, possibly even complete, Hox cluster made up of up to 10 Hox genes already present deep in the evolution of Bilateria. It is still not known how, or whether, Hox genes played a part in the diversification of different animal phyla within the Bilateria.

Marine incursion into South America
Article Abstract:
Freshwater fishes are diverse in the Amazon basin, and a molecular phylogenetic analysis of South American freshwater stingrays suggests some freshwater fish had their origins as a by-product of marine water movements during the early miocene epoch. DNA sequences from the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene were used to investigate the evolutionary history of stingrays.
