Social learning about predators: Does timing matter?
Article Abstract:
A test is conducted to check the prediction that social learning of response to a predator would occur even if the social alarm cues appeared before the predatory stimulus (the conditioned stimulus). The outcome reveals that social acquisition of the predator avoidance is not dependent upon a particular relationship between predators and the social alarm cues.

Predator avoidance in fiddler crabs: 2. The visual cues
Article Abstract:
The visual cues fiddler crabs Uca Vomeris use is investigated to decide when to run towards their burrow in response to an approaching predator by running towards their burrow. Retinal speed did not correlate well with the actual risk of predation as it confounded a predator's direction of approach with its speed and proximity.
