Sociologist fools physics judges
Article Abstract:
Social scientist Harry Collins believes that with the concept of interactional expertise outsiders can develop a kind of expertise in a scientific field, even if they cannot carry out the relevant experiments and do not know the mathematics involved. As a test to his claim, Collins answered a set of seven questions about gravity-wave physics, set by a gravity-wave physicist and sent it to nine researchers to compare it with the answers of a real physicist. All of them found it difficult to differentiate between the real gravity physicist, thus proving Collins claim.

Psychologists warn of more suicide attacks in the wake of London bombs
Article Abstract:
Psychologists are studying suicide terrorism to understand the intentions of the attackers, which would help them in predicting whether they might strike again and what damage they might inflict. It is found that economic status, educational background and religious beliefs are not significant factors in motivating the bombers and it appears that suicide bombers can come from all walks of life and the London bombers very much fit the profile of suicide bombers.

Dealer unearths Hooke's Royal Society notes
Article Abstract:
Felix Pryor, manuscript expert at Bonhams auction house in London unearthed a set of original minutes and commentary that detail the birth of modern science.
