Song switching in monandrous and polyandrous dunnocks, Prunella modularis
Article Abstract:
The importance of song repertoire in male-male interaction and mate searching was analyzed in dunnocks. Analysis of the rates of song switching and song rates in dunnocks indicated the high frequency of song repetitions in males during song duels. The rate of song switching also increased 10 times in males that were searching for a mate compared to males that were engaged in song bouts. Furthermore, the polyandrous male dunnocks exhibited higher frequencies of song switching compared to monandrous males.

Embryonic and neonatal vocal elicitation of parental brooding and feeding responses in American white pelicans
Article Abstract:
Neonatal American white pelicans and those in the late embryonic stage utter specific cries in response to hunger and ambient temperatures. These distinctive cries are understood by parents who respond in an appropriate brroding or feeding behavior to satisfy chicks' needs. Results of a study on hatching eggs and neonatal chicks indicated that parent-offspring interaction is well-established and sustained by vocal communication, in American white pelicans.
