Spin fluctuations in Yba(sub2)Cu(sub3)O(sub6.6)
Article Abstract:
In copper oxide magnetism the undoped parent compounds are insulating antiferromagnets. The magnetism in high-transition-temperature copper oxide superconductors results from spins linked to the incomplete outer electronic shells of the copper ions. Two-dimensional neutron-scattering imaging of Yba(sub2)Cu(sub3)O(sub6.6) resulted in low frequency magnetic excitations virtually identical to those of doped La(sub2-x)SrxCuO(sub4).

High-temperature weak ferromagnetism in a low-density free-electron gas
Article Abstract:
The magnetic properties of the ground state of low density free electron gas in three dimensions is a difficult theoretical problem, and has not previously been directly experimentally addressed. Measurements on electron-doped calcium hexaboride (CaB(sub6)) are reported and it is argued that the ground state is ferromagnetically polarized at a density of 7 x 10(super19) electrons cm(super-3).

Magnetoresistance from quantum interference effects in ferromagnets
Article Abstract:
It is possible for magnetoresistance to arise in some ferromagnets through quantum interference effects, instead of simple scattering. The discovery of a positive magnetoresistance shows the relevance of quantum interference effects to electrical properties measured far outside the sub-Kelvin domain of low-temperature physics.
