Stem-cell therapies for blood diseases
Article Abstract:
An improvement in clinical protocol and gene-delivery vectors, and deeper understanding of stem cells is required in order to reduce the risk of transplantation of haematopoietic stem cells, and to increase the number of patients to safely access the treatment. Improvements by developing less-toxic drug regiments, preparing the patient to accept the transplant and strategies for prompt immune reconstitution following transplant are also required.

Right timing for retina repair
Article Abstract:
The transplants of photoreceptor cells have offered hope for treating retinal disease, but using the cells at a particular stage in their development is crucial for proper outcomes. Researchers have aimed to combine the migration and integration potential of the progenitor cells with the photoreceptor differentiation properties of the retinal sheets, which has provided hope for the cell-based treatments in retinal disease.

Induction of photosensitivity by hererologous expression of melanopsin
Article Abstract:
The mouse melanopsin complementary DNA in human embryonic kidney cells stably expressing TRPC3 receptor-operated non-specific cation channels is expressed to test melanopsin's capacity to form a functional sensory photopigment. It is concluded that mammalian melanospin is a functional sensory photopigment, that it is the photopigment of gangolion-cell photoreceptors.
