Stochastic seasonality and nonlinear density-dependent factors regulate population size in an African rodent
Article Abstract:
Ecological research indicates that both density-dependent and density independent factors affect the population size of the murid rat species Mastomys natalensis. Statistical capture-recapture models are used to show that both factors are in effect at the same time. Nonlinear density-dependent components, strong deterministic and stochastic seasonal components can be observed. Previous demographic research has not achieved this before.

Nonlinear effects of large-scale climatic variability on wild and domestic herbivores
Article Abstract:
Research into the impact of large-scale climatic variations on domestic sheep and wild red deer is described. The study shows that the North Atlantic Oscillation has a nonlinear and non-monotonic effect on body weight.

Ecological and genetic spatial structuring in the Canadian lynx
Article Abstract:
The Rocky Mountains representing a barrier to gene flow in western Canada is discussed. The ecological factors underlying the spatial dynamic structuring strongly influence the genetic structuring of the Canadian lynx.
