Stuart Piggott (1910-96)
Article Abstract:
Stuart Piggott who is known for his contribution to the development of archaeology as a scientific discipline, died in 1996. He was attracted to archaeology right from his childhood. He got a post in Reading Museum at the age of 17 and his fascination with Wessex started with the excavation he did there. Piggott published many books including ones on ancient and prehistoric India. He was considered an authority in early wheeled vehicles and prehistoric Europe. Piggott held the Abercromby Chair of Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh till his retirement.

An obituary of physical scientist Edward T. Hall is presented. Particular attention is given to the scientist's hobbies and his interests in archaeology, as well as to his pioneering work in designing devices used in detecting archaeological remains in the ground.
