Thomas A. McMahon (1943-99)
Article Abstract:
Biomechanist Thomas A. McMahon's career was greatly influenced by meeting the late C. Richard Taylor in 1969. Taylor introduced McMahon to the mysteries of animal locomotion, and McMahon went on to devise a number of theories about how mathematical modelling can be used to understand locomotion. He taught for 30 years at Harvard University, and during this time researched the basic mechanical principles that dictate how organisms are constructed and work.
