Supplemental feeding regimes for Egyptian vultures in the Negev Desert, Israel
Article Abstract:
Two different stocking regimes were used to supply food to a population of Egyptian vultures at two sites in the Negev Desert, Israel. One station was stocked every two to three weeks with livestock carcasses, while the other was stocked daily with chicken carcasses. Adult Egyptian vultures fed preferentially at the feeding station stocked daily, as they dominated younger birds in encounters where food was present. Variability in flock size and numbers feeding was lower at the regular feeding station than at the irregular feeding station.

DDE decreases in plasma of spring migrant peregrine falcons 1978-94
Article Abstract:
Blood sampling of migrant peregrine falcons captured at Padre Island, Texas, in 1978-1994 shows decrease of dichlorodiphenyldichloroethelene (DDE), the metabolite of dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) in plasma. At the early stage of the study,it was found that much of the pesticide burden was accumulated in Latin America where the birds migrated for the winter. However, DDE in blood plasma decreased over the years indicating improvement in the environment of both North and South Americas.
