Survival and recovery rates of American eiders in eastern North America
Article Abstract:
There is growing concern among biologists about rises in harvest levels of sea ducks in the Atlantic Flyway. This prompted research into banding and recovery data of adult female American eiders captured in eastern North America. It was found that American eiders have relatively high survival rates compared with most other North American waterfowl, but this does not necessarily mean that they can withstand higher harvest rates. Eiders have a relatively low recruitment rate, and this must be taken into account when devising harvest management strategies.

Survival and recovery rates of American woodcock banded in Michigan
Article Abstract:
Research is presented on American woodcock (Scolopax minor) adults and juveniles which were banded in Michigan from 1978 to 1998. Survival and recovery rates are compared to those from previous years; differences were small. Key findings include low survival rates for juveniles.

Fall migration and habitat use of American woodcock in the central United States
Article Abstract:
The mapping of potential woodcock habitat in the Central Region with the help of a geographic information system identified possible fall migration routes which could be used by land managers to prioritize future land acquisition and management of woodcock habitat.
