Survival, movements, and breeding of released Hawaiian geese: an assessment of the reintroduction program
Article Abstract:
The Hawaiian goose restoration program began in 1949 when fewer than 30 individuals survived in the wild. Some 2,150 captive-reared geese have been released into the wild since 1962 but have not resulted in a self-sustaining population. A study of the pattern of movement and breeding of the released Hawaiian geese shows factors influencing their survival include year of release, method of release and age-class, while some release sites have been found to be unsuitable.

Winter avian community and sparrow response to field border width
Article Abstract:
The effects of native warm-season grass field border establishment and width on winter bird response were evaluated. Results concluded the establishment of field borders on production farms as valuable habitat for foraging, roosting, escape over, and maintenance activities of wintering grassland birds in the Mississippi alluvial valley, particularly borders of enhanced width.
