Swimming sperm in an extinct Gondwanan plant
Article Abstract:
A 250-million-year-old fossil from Homevale in Queensland, Austria of anatomically preserved pollen tubes and swimming male gametes from Glossopteris, is described. The discovery of this simple reproductive system in Glossopteris has implication for its phylogenetic relationships with extant groups of seed plants and for the evolution of pollination biology in general.

Fragments of the earliest land plants
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that spore-containing plant fossil fragments are the direct evidence to suggest that the earliest spores develop in large numbers within sporangia, which are fossilized remains of bona fide land plants. Analysis of spore wall ultrastructure suggests an affinity to liverwort.

Ice-age steppe vegetation in east Beringia
Article Abstract:
The vegetation of the most recent ice age in east Beringia is analyzed. The macrofossils found in that region, depicts the number of mammals that were found in that region for its huge vegetation.
