Synthesis of individual single-walled carbon nanotubes on patterned silicon wafers
Article Abstract:
The materials and physical properties of high-quality, single-walled nanotunes (SWNTs) can be measured, following progress in the synthesis of SWNTs. Individual nanotubes have to be connected, maipulated, isolated and synthesized if nanotubes and conventional microstructures are to be integrated. A strategy for producing high-qualit SWNTs on an individual basis on patterned silicon wafers has been developed using chemical vapor deposition with methane gas.

Orbital Kondo effect in carbon nanotubes
Article Abstract:
Artificial single-impurity Kondo systems are realized in various nanostructures, including semiconductor quantum dots, carbon nanotubes, and individual molecules. A unique electronic structure of carbon nanotubes enables the observation of a purely orbital Kondo effect.
