The role of unshared songs in singing interactions between neighbouring song sparrows
Article Abstract:
A model was presented to find out how songbird neighbours might use their long-distance signals to modulate territorial interactions. It was predicted that the subject would break off the interaction more quickly if the neighbour song playback switched to an unshared song than if it switched to another shared song.
