Death of a chaperone
Article Abstract:
A bacterial toxin SubAB selectively attacks BiP protein that is vital to the correct functioning of the endoplasmic reticulum. BiP at the surface of human prostate cancer cells enhances the spread of the cancer to other regions of the body, suggesting that this protein could be a cell-surface target for therapeutic use of the A subunit.

Dangerous liaisons on neurons
Article Abstract:
The different mechanisms by which botulinum neurotoxin (BoNT)/B, a toxin that causes human botulism, recognizes the surface of neuron junctions are discussed. BoNTs are found to be powerful tools and can be used as therapeutics for treating certain nervous-system diseases.
