The big match
Article Abstract:
Mathematician, Nicholas Vieille, has solved a game theory problem called the big match. The problem can be illustrated by a story about a king who told a minister he was to leave the minister in charge, and would reward him if he was found working on his return, and punish him if he was found being idle. Vieille's proof is long and uses sophisticated tools from a number of sides of mathematics such as algebraic geometry and ergodic theory. The proof gives rise to models that can be used for studying economics and social interactions.

Early gas stripping as the origin of the darkest galaxies in the universe
Article Abstract:
Simulations have shown that the progenitors of the galaxies dominated by dark matter are probably gas-dominated dwarf galaxies that have become satellites of a larger galaxy earlier than the other dwarf spheroidals. The luminous galaxies are surrounded by a few extremely dark-matter-dominated dwarf spheroidal satellites having the shortest orbital periods as they were accreted early.
