The effect of road-based fatalities on the viability of a peri-urban swamp wallaby population
Article Abstract:
Roads along with other forms of disturbances can contribute to population decline and so the effects of fatalities on roads is studied on a population of swamp wallabies within the Royal National Park on the urban fringe of Sydney, Australia. Results indicate that fatalities account for a substantial proportion of the population each year and it is imperative that mitigation targets to create a viable population are set to ensure survival of this species.
