The human RNA kinase hClp1 is active on 3' transfer RNA exons and short interfering RNAs
Article Abstract:
The kinase human Clp1 (hClp1) has phosphorylated and licensed synthetic short interfering RNAs (siRNAs) to become assembled into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) for subsequent target RNA cleavage. The physiological role of hClp1 is revealed as the RNA kinase that phosphorylates the 5' end of the 3' exon during human transfer RNA (tRNA) splicing, which allows the subsequent ligation of both exon halves by an unknown tRNA ligase.

Tetherin inhibits retrovirus release and is antagonized by HIV-1 Vpu

The article discusses the antiviral activity possessed by human cells that consist of the protein-based tethers, tetherins. The findings show that these tetherins inhibit retrovirus release and is highly antagonized by the HIV-1 accessory protein, Vpu.
