The importance of valuing resources: host weight and contender age as determinants of parasitoid wasp contest outcomes
Article Abstract:
The factors that influence the outcome of parasitoid wasp,Goniozus nephantidis, contests for indivisible resources, are analyzed. Resource value asymmetries caused by differences in contestant age and host resource size largely determine the outcomes.

The importance of being larger: parasitoid intruder-owner contests and their implications for clutch size
Article Abstract:
The size of adult females and ownership-status influence the outcome of parasitoid intruder-owner contests for paralyzed hosts of the bethylid wasp, Goniozus nephantidis. Larger female intruders are generally successful in the contests whereas smaller intruders are defeated. Both owners and intruders prefer uncontested hosts and aggressive behavior is observed during the contests. The size of the females and that of their conspecific competitors determines their fitness. The contest outcomes influence clutch sizes and may be accurately predicted using the absolute weight differences.
