The new UNO-Thermoblock from Biometra
Article Abstract:
Biometra has released the UNO-Thermoblock, a compact thermocycler for research and routine diagnostic applications. The UNO-Thermoblock, which is a smaller version of the TRIO-Thermoblock, can accommodate as many as 40 samples. Its simple modular exchange permits work with microtitreplates, thus allowing its use for diagnostics, amplification screening and sample preparation for sequencing reactions. Other features which allow the instrument to work in different temperature regimes are described.

Genzyme is distributing the new monoclonal mouse anti-human CFTR (C-terminus specific) antibody
Article Abstract:
Genzyme Corp has released its new monoclonal mouse anti-human CFTR (C-terminus specific) antibody for biochemists, cell biologists and molecular biologists studying the genetic mechanisms of and new therapies for cystic fibrosis. The monoclonal antibody may be used in immunoprecipitation, sandwich ELISA paired with Genzyme's R-terminus specific CFTR antibody and western blots to detect CFTR proteins from transfected cells.

MetaPhor agarose
Article Abstract:
FMC Bioproducts has developed the MetaPhor, a new gel which combines the convenience of agarose and the resolution power of polyacrylamide gels. Compatible with most electrophoretic and blotting equipment, MetaPhor can finely resolve polymerase chain reaction products and DNA fragments to 5.5% to 8% polyacrylamide gels, and can detect a size difference of 2% in the range of 200 to 800 base pairs.
