Transportin nuclear proteins
Article Abstract:
The human protein, transportin, is involved in the transport of nuclear proteins through the nuclear protein complex. Transportin interacts with the M9 sequence in hnRNPA(sub 1), and the recombinant protein can promote the import of an M9 fusion protein. In higher eukaryotes, transportin also functions in protein export from the nucleus. Another protein, Kap104p, found in Saccharomyces cerevisae, is involved in nuclear import only. The nuclear-import pathway mediated by transportin or Kap104p require GTPase Ran, a soluble factor essential for nuclear protein import.

Article Abstract:
Scientists believe that the intracellular protein Tom5 plays an important role in the cell organelle mitochondrial protein-transport mechanism. The protein works at both the outer and inner membrane of the mitochondria but appears to be different from any other import receptor known because it has strong immunological links to another intracellular protein, Tom40. Further research is required to establish more knowledge of the acid chain reaction.

Fusion of CHOP to a novel RNA-binding protein in human myxoid liposarcoma
Article Abstract:
An abnormal CHOP transcript and protein appears in human myxoid liposarcomas. In these CHOP appears to have fused with a gene here named TLS. In CHOP-TLS the DNA binding and leucine zipper dimerization domain of CHOP has replaced TLS's RNA binding domain. TLS's sequence similarities to EWS and the latter's presence in Ewing's sarcoma offer implications for solid tumors in general.
