Tuning clathrate hydrates for hydrogen storage
Article Abstract:
Hydrogen storage capacities in tetrahydrofuran (THF)-containing binary-clathrate hydrates can be increased to ~4wt% at modest pressures by tuning their composition to allow the hydrogen guests to enter both the larger and the smaller cages, while retaining low-pressure stability is reported. The tuning mechanism used in hydrogen storage method is quite general and convenient as water-soluble hydrate promoters are used.

Hydrogen and hydrates
Article Abstract:
Clathrate hydrates are used to store hydrogen molecules that can be used as fuel by encapsulating hydrogen molecules in a cage-like lattice of water molecule, under high pressure. The use of the common solvent tetrahydrofuran (THF) can help in reducing the pressure and thus, can help in storing hydrogen molecule cheaply.

Hydrogen at the flick of a switch
Article Abstract:
The use of Hydrogen, which is thought to be an ideal fuel for vehicles, is limited by the lack of a safe, efficient system for on-board storage. A rhodium system developed by scientists, which enables hydrogen storage and controlled release without a large input of energy, is described.
