Turbulence and intermittency
Article Abstract:
The flatness factor is inversely proportional to the resolution as revealed by measurements of the flatness factor or kurtosis of the distribution of relative velocities in various turbulent flows. This evidence suggests that the probability distribution of turbulent velocities is varying and varies greatly from gaussian distribution for small values of resolution. Research in the fields of spatial structure of turbulence intermittency and finding objective measures of various aspects of turbulence intermittency are discussed.

Assembly of ordered colloidal aggregates by electric-field-induced fluid flow
Article Abstract:
Ordering of colloidal aggregates is mediated by electric-field-induced fluid flow. Imaging of an axially symmetric flow field around particles on a uniform electrode surface revealed that flow is induced by distortions in the applied electric field owing to inhomogeneities in the double layer of ions and counterions at the electrode surface. Variations in the spatial current distribution is also a critical factor in producing flow.
