Why biodiversity surveys are good value
Article Abstract:
Research into the economic value of biodiversity surveys indicates that high quality biodiversity inventories can play a significant role in assisting government agencies and non-governmental organizations in selecting protected areas. Failure to use such inventories can mean that representative reserve systems are larger than necessary and thus make conservation goals harder to reach. However, the widespread use of extremely detailed and costly biodiversity surveys is not appropriate.

Effectiveness of the global protected area network in representing species diversity
Article Abstract:
The distribution of species and protected areas in representing species diversity is combined by the five global data sets. The species in protected area is said to be covered species if they are overlapped by the mapped distribution else they are called gap species.
