Nijinsky and film
Article Abstract:
Russian dancer Vaslav Nijinsky, who lived from 1889 to 1950, was regarded as the greatest dancer of his time but there are no known film clips of his performances. There are many still photographs, however. Lack of film is ironic and sad because opportunities existed for filming, Nijinsky believed in the value of filming dancers, and was an associate of filmmaker Charlie Chaplin.
