A new broad-spectrum protease inhibitor from the entomopathogenic bacterium Photorhabdus luminescens
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on Photorhabdus luminescens, an entomopathogenic bacterium associated with insect-nematode Heteroohabditis bacteriophora. The authors demonstrate that both primary- and secondary-phase bacteria synthesize protease, and that in the secondary-phase bacteria protease activity is suppressed by protease inhibitor.

Occurrence of natural dixenic associations between the symbiont Photorhabdus luminescens and bacteria related to Ochrobactrum spp. in tropical entomopathogenic Heterorhabditis spp. (Nematoda, Rhabditida)
Article Abstract:
Researchers have isolated bacteria from nematodes that are similar to Ochrobactrum spp., which are know to be toxic to humans. For this reason, these nematodes may not be suitable as a biological control agent for insects.

Continuous monitoring of the cytoplasmic pH in Methanobacterium thermoautotrophicum using the intracellular factor F (sub)420 as indicator
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on endogenous factor F (sub)420. The authors report that F (sub)420 has been used as an intrinsic pH indicator in Methanobacterium thermoautotrophicum.
