Aerobic anoxygeic phototrophic bacteria in the Mid-Atlantic Bight and the North Pacific Gyre
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the abundance of aerobic anoxygenic phototrophic (AAP) bacteria, cyanobacteria, and heterotrophs, in Mid-Atlantic Bight and the central North Pacific Gyre. It was observed that the AAP bacteria in some oceanic regimes and their consistency in the distribution in the water column with photography, was in abundance.

Diversity and abundance of uncultured Cytophaga-like bacteria in the Delaware Estuary
Article Abstract:
A primer set was designed to amplify 16S rRNA genes from the Cytophaga-Flavobacterium group and was used to construct a library of these genes from the Delaware Estuary. A few subgroups of Cytophaga-Flavobacterium were found that were abundant in the Delaware Estuary and one subgroup that was also present in the Arctic Ocean.

Light-stimulated bacterial production and amino acid assimilation by cyanobacteria and other microbes in the North Atlantic Ocean
Article Abstract:
The light-mediated bacterial production and assimilation of organic compounds by cyanobacteria and other microbes in the North Atlantic Ocean are studied. The results show that photopheterotrophs highly accelerate the biomass production and assimilation of dissolved organic matter.
