Allozyme variation in four geographic areas of Cinnamomum kanehirae
Article Abstract:
Cinnamomum Kanehirae is a broadleaf Taiwanese tree species that was once abundant but is now endangered because of overcutting. A clone garden of some 220 root cuttings has been gathered from across the island and is held at the Taiwan Forestry Research Institute. Isozyme techniques have been used to analyse the genetic differentiation and genetic diversity of the trees from four geographic areas. Details of the analysis are presented.

Population genetics of geographically restricted and widespread species of Myrica
Article Abstract:
Myrica has a wind-pollinated catkin inflorescence, and there are two species occurring in Taiwan, M. rubra and M. adenophora. Genetic variation in two species of Myrica were compared, and genetic differentiation of M. adenophora was found to be similar to that of M. rubra. Genetic drift may be one of the forces shaping observed genetic structure of the two species.
