Alternative mRNAs encode multiple isoforms of transcription factor AP-2 during murine embryogenesis
Article Abstract:
RT-PCR and RACE analysis of mouse embryos revealed four classes of differentially spliced murine embryonic cDNAs that encode different variants of DNA binding transcription factor AP-2. cDNA variant 1 encodes the murine homolog of the human AP-2 protein, while cDNA 2,3 and 4 encode AP-2 protein isoforms that differ only in N-terminal segments. Variants 1-3 are expressed in the Hela cells and three glioblastoma cells. Variant 3 was observed to be the most abundant and strongly induced during differentiation of P19 cells at mid-embryogenesis.

Relocation of mitochondria to the prospective dorsal marginal zone during Xenopus embryogenesis
Article Abstract:
Frog development from oogenesis on was studied. Studies conducted on the formation of the dorsal-ventral axis in Xenopus embryo show that during cytoplasmic rotation in the first cell cycle, mitochondrial 1-rRNAs, mitochondrial mRNA and mitochondrial proteins move towards the prospective dorsal midline. The mitochondrial elements are initially present in the center of the egg. The results of these studies show that asymmetry in the cytoplasmic components may be related to morphological asymmetry.

Cloning of tropomodulin cDNA and localization of gene transcripts during mouse embryogenesis
Article Abstract:
Analysis of the structure of cloned tropomodulin (Tmod), a tropomyosin-binding protein, from different mouse tissues reveals that a single gene encodes Tmod. In situ hybridization reveals the temporal and spatial expression of the Tmod gene in different tissues and organs. Experimental studies reveal the developmental regulation of Tmod expression in different cells. Tissue and cell differentiations involve vital interactions between actin filaments and this tropomyosin binding protein.
