Aspartate aminotransferase and tylosin biosynthesis in Streptomyces fradiae
Article Abstract:
The necessity of aspartate aminotransferase (ASAT), valine dehydrogenase and threonine dehydratase for the biosynthesis of tylosin in Streptomyces fradiae was discussed. Aspartate aminotransferase was purifed acetone precipitation, DEAE cellulose, hydroxyapatite and preparative electrophoresis chromatography. A ping-pong-bi-bi mechanism was determined from the purified enzyme.

Fluorinated vitamin B12 analogs are cofactors of corrinoid-dependent enzymes: a 19F-labeled nuclear magnetic resonance probe for identifying corrinoid-protein interactions
Article Abstract:
Three fluorine-labeled cobamides were biosynthesized. Phenol and 4-fluorophenol were incorporated into these cobamides. Two resonances and a high field shift changewere derived by the application of fluorine-19 nuclear manetic resonance spectroscopy (F-NMR). The applicability of biosynthesis and the F-NMR techniquefor analyzing fluorinated corrinoids was demonstrated.

Genes involved in formation and attachment of a two-carbon chain as a component of eurekanate, a branched-chain sugar moiety of avilamycin A
Article Abstract:
An experimental proof for the function of two genes of the avilamycin biosynthetic gene cluster, aviB1 and avi02, both involved in avilamycin structure modication is presented. The functions of both genes are identified by gene inactivation experiments and nuclear magnetic resonance analyses of extracts produced by the mutants.
