Biochemical, genetic and zoosporicidal properties of cyclic lipopeptide surfactants produced by Pseoudomonas fluorescens
Article Abstract:
Six fluorescent Pseudomonas isolates with zoosporicidal activities were obtained from the wheat rhizosphere and screened for activity against zoospores of multiple oomycete pathogens including Pythium species and phytophthora infestants. Comparison of strain SS101, identified by GC-FAME analysis as P.fluorescens biovar II, with other pseudomonas strains and in particular, strain WCS358 indicated that reduction of the surface tension alone may not be indicative for causing lysis of zoospores.

Diversity of cultivated endophytic bacteria from sugarcane: genetic and biochemical characterization of Burkholderia cepacia complex isolates
Article Abstract:
Bacteria are isolated from the rhizosphere and from inside the roots and stems of sugarcane plants grown in the field in Brazil in order to delineate the cultivated endophytic bacterial isolates and characterize their salient metabolic features. The results have shown that isolates of the Burkholderia cepacia complex are a vital part of the endophytic bacterial community of sugarcane in Brazil and that plant-associated environments are important for opportunistic human pathogenic bacteria.

Negative cross communication among wheat rhizosphere bacteria: Effect on antibiotic production by the biological control bacterium pseudomonas aureofaciens 30-84
Article Abstract:
A second subpopulation that negatively affected phenazine gene expression is identified from wheat rhizosphere community. The results suggest that cross-communication among members of the rhizosphere community and strain 30-84 may control secondary metabolite production a pathogen inhibition.
