Biodegradation of 4-nitrotoluene by Pseudomonas sp. strain 4NT
Article Abstract:
The degradative pathway of 4-nitrotoluene degradation by Pseudomonas sp. strain 4NT was elucidated. The results showed that strain 4NT oxidizes 4-nitrotoluene to 4-nitrobenzoate prior to the removal the nitro group from via a reductive pathway. Therefore, strain 4NT can employ both oxidative and reductive pathways for the removal of nitro groups. Based on the results, a pathway for degradation of 4-nitrotoluene by Pseudomonas sp. strain 4NT is presented.

Biodegradation of mixtures of substituted benzenes by Pseudomonas sp. strain JS150
Article Abstract:
A strain of Pseudomonas that degrades a wide range of substituted aromatic compounds was isolated. Strain JS150 was capable of synthesizing meta, ortho and modified ortho cleavage pathways, as well as toluene dioxygenase, catechol 1,2- and 2,3-dioxygenases when grown on the appropriate single substrates. Induction of the individual pathways was required for the biodegradation of complex mixtures of these substrates.

Biotransformation of 2,4,6,8,10,12-hexanitro-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaazaisowurtzitane (CL-20) by denitrifying Pseudomonas sp. strain FA1
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on denitrifying Pseudomonas sp. strain FA1 which utilizes 2,4,6,8,10,12-hexanitro-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaazaisowurtzitane (CL-20) as a nitrogen source. The authors have investigated the nature and functions of the enzyme responsible for the biotransformation of CL-20 by FA1 strain, and have presented the results.
