Cell wall assembly in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Article Abstract:
The progress in understanding the molecular biology and biochemistry of cell wall synthesis and its remodeling in Saccharomyces cerevisiae is assessed. A regulatory dynamics of cell wall assembly is reviewed, an area where functional genomics offers new insights into the integration of cell wall growth and morphogenesis with a polarized secretory system that is under cell cycle and cell type program controls.

Regulation of the cell cycle by protein phosphatase 2A in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Article Abstract:
Protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) has implications in cell cycle regulation in many different organisms. In the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, PP2A controls cell cycle progression through modulation of cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) at the [G.sub.2]/M transition and PP2A functions in many stages of the cell cycle and its effect on cell cycle progression is pleiotropic.

Environmental sensing and signal transduction pathways regulating morphopathogenic determinants of Candida albicans
Article Abstract:
An overview of the different sensing and signaling pathways involved in the morphogenesis and pathogenesis of Candida albicans is presented. The analogous pathways in Saccharomyces cerevisiae are compared to highlight the evolution of the different components of the two organisms.
