Characterization of a novel strain of Bacillus thuringiensis
Article Abstract:
The characterization of the nontoxic LBIT-113 strain of Bacillus thuringiensis reveals that the LBIT-113 strain shows peculiar characteristics compared with other strains of this species. Transmission electron microscopy indicates the presence of a flat square shaped parasporal crystal that is enclosed within the spore's outer envelope. The crystal is composed of two proteins of 88 and 54 kDa. The proteins have no relation to the Cry IIIA protein, though there are crystal morphological similarities.

Cloning of a novel cryIC-type gene from a strain of Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. galleriae
Article Abstract:
The chraracterization of cryI gene content by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) on a number of Bacillus thuringiensis strains is discussed. Experiments involving DNA isolation and modification, a gene library construction, crystal protein isolation, bioassay, immunoblotting and DNA sequencing were conducted. The capacity of PCR as a method for screening for lepidopteran-active genes was demonstrated.

Identification of novel genes involved in long-chain n-alkane degradation by acinetobacter sp. strain DSM 17874
Article Abstract:
A novel high-throughput screening method and the screening of a transposon mutant library are described to identify genes involved in the degradation of n-alkanes with C chain lengths. Genes encoding AlmA homologues are also identified in other long-chain n-alkane-degrading Acinetobacter strains.
