Comparative survival advantage of males with Down syndrome
Article Abstract:
Research suggests a greater life expectancy for males with Down syndrome than females with the same disorder in a cohort from Western Australia. This finding, due partly to increased cardiac defects and partly to early natural meopause, challenges the general trend of life expectancy being longer in females than males in virtually all countries.
