Conspiracy theory: RAS and RAF do not act alone
Article Abstract:
RAS and RAF signaling and its regulation should be reconsidered despite studies that have added new proteins that conspire with RAS, RAF, and receptors to transfer signals. To prove their findings, these new studies should explain the biochemical function of such proteins as well as include into functional models those proteins defined by in vitro properties, such as binding other identified proteins. Research on these new proteins may shed light on the function of RAS and RAF and provide answer to basic questions offered by the complex processes of signal transduction.

RalB signaling: A bridge between inflammation and cancer
Article Abstract:
Studies were conducted to show that the RalB GTPase regulates the IKK family member TBK1, providing an unexpected link between the signaling pathways that promote inflammation and cancer. The findings show that in tumor cells the RalB/TBK1 pathway inhibits apoptosis and in nontumorigenic cells it stimulates an innate immune response.

C. elegans LIN-18 is a Ryk ortholog and functions in parallel to LIN-17/frizzled in Wnt signaling
Article Abstract:
Wnt proteins are intercellular signals that regulate various aspects of animal development. It is studied that two independent Wnt signaling pathways, one employing a Ryk receptor and the other Frizzled receptor, function in parallel to regulate cell fate patterning in the C. elegans vulva.
