Analysis of Pseudomonas putida alkane-degradation gene clusters and flanking insertion sequences: evolution and regulation of the alk genes
Article Abstract:
Pseudomonas putida alkane-degradation gene clusters and flanking insertion sequences have been analyzed with attention to regulation and evolution of the alk genes. Only the alkB and alkS promoter regions are conserved, other than the coding regions of the GPo1 and P1 alk genes.

Cytochrome P450 alkane hydroxylases of the CYP153 family are common in alkane-degrading Eubacteria lacking integral membrane alkane hydroxylases
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to show that most of the strains that possess enzymes related to CYP153A1 and CYP153A6, cytochrome P450 enzymes that were characterized as alkane hydroxylases, using PCR. Result provided evidence that the newly cloned P450s are indeed alkane hydroxylases.

Engineering of a stable whole-cell biocatalyst capable of (S)-styrene oxide formation for continuous two-liquid-phase applications
Article Abstract:
Placement of target genes on the chromosomes of Pseudomonas putida KT2440 might be a way to approach the construction of highly active segregationally stable whole-cell biocatalysts. Recombinant strains of P. putida KT2440 carrying genetic expression cassettes with styrene monooxygenase- and xylene oxygenase-encoding genes on their chromosomes have been studied. They can be induced in shaking-flash experiments to activities much like those of multicopy-plasmid-based Escherichia coli recombinants.
