DWnt-2, a Drosophila Wnt gene required for the development of the male reproductive tract, specifies a sexually dimorphic cell fate
Article Abstract:
DWnt-2 is a secreted glycoprotein related to wingless in Drosophila, in which cells of the gonad and the genital disc must be given fates that are sex-specific. DWnt seems to be a signal necessary for cell fate determination and morphogenesis in the male reproductive tract as it develops. DWnt-2 is expressed in parts of the male genital disc and gonad. They are sites of contact with muscle precursor cells. That indicates that secreted DWnt-w protein signals for the migration or attachment of the cells.

Wingless repression of Drosophila frizzled 2 expression shapes of wingless morphogen gradient in the wing
Article Abstract:
The Drosophila frizzled 2 can stabilize Wingless (Wg) protein because of the high levels of Wg receptor which allow such protein to reach cells beyond its site of synthesis. The creation of a gradient decreasing Wg stability which is moving toward the dorsal/ventral boundary can be attributed to the repression of Drosophila frizzled 2 expression by Wg signaling. Such Drosophila frizzled is vital for the normal shape of Wingless morphogen gradient and to the response of cells to Wg signal.

The Drosophila Wnt protein DWnt-3 is a secreted glycoprotein localized on the axon tracts of the embryonic CNS
Article Abstract:
Experimental analysis of the in vivo expression domains of Drosophila's DWnt-3 protein with the help of region-specific antisera indicates that the commissural axon tracts of the central nervous system (CNS) are disrupted due to DWnt-3 gene expression. This suggests that a protein encoded by the DWnt-3 gene influences CNS of Drosophila by depositing in the axon tracts of the CNS. The wingless gene is not substituted by this DWnt-3 gene.
