Decoding of cytosolic calcium oscillations in the mitochondria
Article Abstract:
The mitochondria are tuned to oscillating (Ca2+)c signals, the frequency of which can control the CSMDHs over the full range of potential activities. Such signals mediate the extracellular stimuli. Oscillations of (Ca2+)c induced by IP3-dependent hormones are efficiently transmitted to the mitochondria as (Ca2+)m oscillations. Each (Ca2+)m spike was sufficient to cause a maximal transient activation of the CSMDHs and (Ca2+)m oscillations.

Prefoldin, a chaperone that delivers unfolded proteins to cytosolic chaperonin
Article Abstract:
The heterohexameric chaperone protein prefoldin can capture unfolded actin and bind with cytosolic chaperonin (c-cpn) wherein target proteins are being transferred to. The prefoldin gene also has a role in chaperonin-mediated folding. Is also promotes folding in an environment with various pathways by directing target proteins to c-cpn. All of the said pathways rely on the binding and release of prefoldin by chaperones.

Altered Ca2+ responses in muscles with combined mitochondrial and cytosolic creatinine kinase deficiencies
Article Abstract:
Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, electron microscopy, histochemical fiber typing and calcium measurements in cultured skeletal muscle cells obtained from genetically engineered mice were performed to study the creatinine kinase (CK)-catalyzed reactions in the skeletal muscle network system. The results indicated that the CK system regulates both Ca(super 2+) accumulation and release in skeletal muscle fibers.
