Deletions in the gibberellin biosynthesis gene cluster of Gibberella fujikuroi by restriction enzyme-mediated integration and conventional transformation-mediated mutagenesis
Article Abstract:
Mutants of Gibberella fujikuroi that were deficient in gibberellin biosynthesis were induced by transformation-mediated mutagenesis with the vector pAN7-1. 24 GA-defective mutants were recovered in one of nine transformation experiments performed without the addition of a restriction enzyme. Each mutant had a similar Southern blot pattern, suggesting the integration of the vector into the same site. The addition of a restriction enzyme through mediated integration significantly increased the transformation rate and the rate of single-copy integration events.

The Gibberella fujikuroi niaD gene encoding nitrate reductase: isolation, sequence, homologous transformation and electrophoretic karyotype location
Article Abstract:
An efficient homologous transformation system has been developed with the use of the niaD gene, which encodes for nitrate reductase in Gibberella fujikuroi. The electrophoretic karyotype location and basic gene organization of Gibberella fujikuroi is also determined. The system is shown to be useful for self-cloning of gibberellin biosynthetic genes and gene disruption experiments.

The P450-4 gene of Gibberella fujikuroi encodes ent-kaurene oxidase in the gibberellin biosynthesis pathway
Article Abstract:
Researchers have discovered a fourth cytochrome P-450 monooxygenase gene on chromosome 4 of Gibberella fujikuroi that codes for an ent-kaurene oxidase that can catalyze the conversion of ent-kaurene to ent-kaurenoic acid. This involves three different oxidation reactions.
