Derivation and characterization of a somatic cell hybrid containing the portion of mouse chromosome 11 (MMU11) homologous to human chromosome 17q
Article Abstract:
The characterization of mouse x rat somatic cell hybrids possessing the B5 to E bands of the mouse chromosome 11 (MMU11) reveals the presence of two hybrids, T16Ad14B and T16Ad19A. Polymerase chain reaction amplification and Southern blot analysis indicates that the hybrids lack the MMU11 loci proximal to and possessing the markers Acrb and Atplb2. The loci distal to and containing the marker Scya2 do exist in the hybrids. Fluorescent in situ hybridization and G-banding of the hybrid T16Ad14B reveals the presence of the 3(super 11) translocation chromosome.

Dense incisors (din): a new mouse mutation on chromosome 16 affecting tooth eruption and body size
Article Abstract:
Dense incisors (din) is an autosomal recessive mutation on chromosome 16 in the mouse that hampers eruption of the incisors. The initial eruption through the gingiva is unaffected, but the subsequent eruption stops. The inability of the incisor to erupt properly results in dentin formation that obstructs the pulp chambers producing a dense incisor. The mutation produces a mouse with an anterior open bite. The body size and ear pinna size are smaller and the coat color is duller in the mutants.

A new allelic series for the underwhite gene on mouse chromosome 15
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to characterize a novel allelic series at the underwhite gene on mouse chromosome 15. The phenotypes and dominance hierarchy of the alleles were characterized by a reduction of pigmentation in eye and coat color. Results also indicated that the underwhite locus is genetically different from Myo10. In addition, Myo10 was found to be a candidate gene for underwhite because of three recombinant chromosomes between two loci.
