Detection of genes involved in biodegradation and biotransformation in microbial communities by using 50-mer oligonucleotide microarrays
Article Abstract:
A complete 50-mer-based oligonucleotide microarray was formed depending on mainly the 2402 recognized genes and the ways implicated in the biodegradation and metal resistance process to successfully scrutinize the biodegrading populations. The outcome indicates that this technology has the capability to disclose the complete picture of the composition of the biodegradation genes along with the microbial community in the polluted environments.

Desulfurization of dibenzothiophene and diesel oils by a newly isolated Gordona strain, CYKS1
Article Abstract:
The mechanisms of dibenzothiophene (DBT) desulfurization by the Gordona bacterial strain CYKS1 were investigated. In addition, the potential application of the strain for the biocatalytic desulfurization of diesel oils was examined. Evidence of sulphur-specific desulfurization was obtained by high-performance liquid chromatography analysis of samples collected from the broth of stationary-phase enrichment cultures. Results showed that CYKS1 transformed DBT to 2-hydroxybiphenyl through the 4S pathway and was able to use other organic sulfur compounds as a sole source of sulfur.
