Different genetic components in the Ethiopian population, identified by mtDNA and Y-chromosome polymorphisms
Article Abstract:
Seventy-seven Ethiopians have been studied for mtDNA- and Y-chromosome-specific variations. The study also attempted to identify origins of maternal and paternal lineages and to estimate the relative contributions about ancient populations of the country. Two Y polymorphisms were examined in 87 Senegalese already classified for the two TaqI restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs). It appears that Ethiopian people had Caucasoid gene flow mostly through males and have African components coming from Bantu migrations and an in situ differentiation process from an ancestral African gene pool. The people show some T-chromosome affinities with a very ancient African group, the Tsumkwe San.

Phylogeographic analysis of mitochondrial DNA in northern Asian populations
Article Abstract:
A detailed analysis of northern Asian mtDNA phylogeography which confirmed the lack of lineages ancestral to major Eurasian haplogroups M, N, and R in southern Siberia and also ruled out the existence to northern Asian route is presented.

Mitochondrial variation of modern Tuscans supports the near eastern origin of Etruscans
Article Abstract:
The mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) of 322 subjects from three well-defined areas of Tuscany was analyzed. The aim is to explain the origin of the Etruscan people, their language and sophisticated culture, including an Aegean/Anatolian origin.
