Discoidin domain receptor 1 functions in axon extension of cerebellar granule neurons
Article Abstract:
Discoidin domain receptor 1 acts in axon extension of cerebellar granule neurons. Study results indicate that collagen-DDR1 signaling is necessary for granule neuron axon formation. They suggest a unique role of pia in cerebellar cortex histogenesis.

Role of Unc51.1 and its binding partners in CNS axon outgrowth
Article Abstract:
Two direct binding partners are identified to examine the mechanism of Unc51.1 regulation of axon extension. Results indicate that Unc51.1- containing protein complex governs axon formulation through Ras-like GTPase signaling and through regulation of the Rab5 mediated endocytic pathways within developing axons.

Neuronal polarity in CNS development
Article Abstract:
The emerging genetic, molecular genetic, biochemical and cell biological approaches and mechanisms that control neuronal polarity are addressed by focusing on recent studies using the neonatal cerebellum and hippocampus as model systems. It is learnt that the fundamental steps in CNS development, including neurogenesis in specialized neuroepithelia, coordination of the centrosome and neurite outgrowth, the formation of a specialized adhesion during neuronal migration and the formation of synaptic contacts that are highly specialized epithelial junctions, are likely to involve polarity proteins.
