Distribution of the transposable element mariner in anopheline mosquitoes
Article Abstract:
Distribution of the transposable element mariner has been studied using PCR in we species of anopheline mosquitoes in Thailand. The mosquitoes included the most important vectors of malaria in Southeast Asia. The elements encountered, elements from the irritans, mauritiana and mellifera subfamilies, are likely to be inactive, based on multiple stop codons and/or frameshifts seen.

Fluorescence in situ hybridization analysis of hobo, mdg1 and Dm412 transposable elements reveals genomic instability following the Drosophila melanogaster genome sequencing
Article Abstract:
An analysis of fluorescence in situ hybridization of hobo transposon, Dm412, and mdg1 retrotransposons on polytene chromosomes after Drosphila melanogaster genome sequencing is conducted. A genomic instability due to variations in the hybridization sites when compared to those in the annotated genome sequence is observed.

Population structure in the malaria vector, Anopheles arabiensis Patton, in East Africa
Article Abstract:
The article discusses genetic differences and substructure in population of Anopheles arabiensis from Tanzania and Mozambique in East Africa. Three estimates of population differentiation compared from the derived allele and genotype frequencies are discussed.
