Early developmental conditions and reproductive success in humans: Downstream effects of prenatal famine, birthweight, and timing of birth
Article Abstract:
How birthweight, season of birth, or exposure to prenatal starvation affect different aspects of an individual's subsequent reproductive success in humans and the growth, survival, and reproductive performance of the offspring produced is reviewed. Early maternal and environmental conditions that can have a large impact on human reproductive strategies and fitness that can span across generations is shown.

Use of serial ultrasound to identify periods of fetal growth restriction in relation to neonatal anthropometry
Article Abstract:
The relationship between birth weight and fetal growth restriction (FGR) is examined by using serial prenatal ultrasound to identify periods of FGR during gestation and related these periods to birth size and shape. The results have shown that birth weight is not a valid indicator of FGR occurring before the third trimester, but the body composition might be a more sensitive marker of early FGR.

Reproductive Success: Which meaning?
Article Abstract:
Reproductive success, like inbreeding, takes its signification in the depth of successive generations. This concept, applied to human beings and estimated as the progeny that an individual has had during his/her lifetime, has become the commonest measure of so-called individual fitness.
