Characterization of the zinc-containing metalloprotease encoded by zpx and development of a species-specific detection method for Enterobacter sakazakii
Article Abstract:
The characterization of zinc-metalloprotease of Enterobacter sakazakii, identification of protease gene locus, zpx and development of a species-specific PCR detection assay for Enterobacter sakazakii are discussed. PCR analysis revealed that Enterobacter sakazakii strains possessed the metalloprotease gene, zpx and the deduced amino acid sequence of the metalloprotease has 341 amino acid residues.

Retention of virulence in a viable but nonculturable Edwardsiella tarda isolate
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to investigate the viable but nonculturable (VBNC) state and virulence retention of Edwardsiella tarda bacterium. The results show that when the cells entered into the VBNC state, they gradually changed in shape from short rods to coccoid and decreased in size, but the resuscitative cells did not show any obvious differences from the normal cells.
