Embryonic genetic load for a neotropical conifer, pinus patula Schiede et Deppe
Article Abstract:
Embryonic genetic loads are quite high for Pinus species in the northern hemisphere. Genetic load for a founder population of neotropical pine, Pinus patula Schiede and Deppe was tested for the effect of population dynamics. It is hypothesized that P. patula's embryo-lethal system is stable, and may act as a self-incompatibility mechanism. Embryo viability may thus appear less sensitive to disjunct or founder populations, compared to other fitness components.

Unique mutations in mitochondrial DNA of senescence-accelerated mouse (SAM) strains
Article Abstract:
Research describing a method for tracing the lineage of mouse strains is presented. In particular the mtDNA sequences of laboratory mice were investigated to deduce the ancestral strain.
